![]() >At this point, I'm going to talk about the synergy between Boons and different weapons, as some greatly favor some weapons over others. While everything under the Mirror is good and Darkness can't really be spent on much else, I would advise new players to focus on maxing these out as soon as possible. Privileged Status, which gives you a sharp bonus to damage against enemies afflicted with two different status ailments. Boiling Blood, which gives you a damage boost versus enemies that have your Shot lodged in them. Death Defiance, which gives you extra lives per run. Shadow Presence, which boosts your damage when attacking an opponent from behind. I would advise that you focus your keys on the Mirror, as several *very* potent modifiers are in the Mirror, primarily these three: >Once you have every weapon unlocked, your keys are only good for progressing the Mirror with new upgrades and trading with the Trader. However, if you mis-spent your Blood, it's not the biggest deal in the world. I would advise that you only invest Titan's Blood in upgrading a weapon or unlocking new aspects if you're 100% sure you're comfortable with that weapon. You get five from beating Meg with each weapon, one each, and the Trader in the House will sometimes offer a deal for one, albeit for other items that are just as rare at this point. >Early on in the game, Titan's Blood is a rare commodity. ![]() This is one of the few times you can guarantee what Boon you will get, so it's important to get every god's Keepsake to get their Boons if you need them for a run. This is *very* important, especially the Keepsake you take when first embarking, as that first boon is almost guaranteed to have that god's Basic Attack, Special Attack, and Dash oriented Boons. Each one does the same thing: the next Boon you find will be from that god, and Boons from that god have better chances of being higher rarity. A lot of them are quirky and have strong effects, but the most important are the various gods' Keepsakes. Before leaving for a run, you can equip a Keepsake, and with a purchase from the Renovator, you can change your Keepsake at the interim between areas, directly after the primary bosses. Keepsakes are special equipment that you get from giving characters Nectar for the first time. Play around with every one of them, and find what suits you best. If you've only *just* started the game, I would advise you to do a few runs just for the purpose of getting keys and unlocking every weapon before you set your eyes on making significant progress through the levels. Try them out, find what feels right to you. My Rule 0 advice is this: just take your time and have fun Your choice of weapon is probably the most important aspect of your run. Don't get discouraged if it takes twenty, fifty, a hundred runs. Second, a part of the game's experience is exploring and testing and finding these things for yourself. I've just observed quite a few people missing on these points, and want people to be able to find them more easily. ![]() I'm no super efficient speedrunner that can go from window to the surface in like three minutes flat on heat 32 or anything. Just a couple disclaimers: First, I'm no expert. So, I'm hoping that a compilation of the basics will help at least some of you out there. And combing through them, it seems like quite a few people are missing the same few key elements that make a successful run. ![]() I've seen a lot of posts recently either directly asking for help, or lamenting that the OP hasn't made much progress in X number of runs. ![]()
